What Ipmeter Does

Put a Meter on Your Network

Network measurement explained: speed, latency, jitter, and packet loss — what each number means and how to test it properly.

⚡

Speed Tests Explained

Why five speed tests give five answers, and how to run one that reflects reality.

⏱️

Latency and Ping

The round-trip number that decides how snappy calls, games, and clicks feel.

📉

Packet Loss

The silent killer of calls and streams: how to detect loss and trace where it happens.

🎛️

Jitter and Call Quality

Why variation in delay ruins voice before raw speed ever does.

📊

Bandwidth Monitoring

Watching usage over time to catch the device or hour that eats the connection.

🧪

DIY Test Routines

Repeatable scripts and schedules that prove to your ISP something is wrong.

How Ipmeter Works

From signup to value in 3 steps

1

Baseline it

Measure speed, latency, and loss when things work so you know what normal looks like.

2

Test the right way

Go wired, repeat at scheduled times, and record every run.

3

Read the pattern

Compare against the baseline to locate the fault — your Wi-Fi, your ISP, or the far end.

Frequently Asked

Why is my speed test fine but video calls still break up?

Calls depend on latency, jitter, and packet loss far more than throughput. A connection can pass a speed test while dropping the small, timing-sensitive packets a call needs.

What is good latency?

Under about 20 ms to nearby servers feels instant, under 50 ms is comfortable for calls and gaming, and past 150 ms conversations start talking over each other.

How do I prove my connection is underperforming?

Test wired, at different times of day, over several days, and keep the logs. A pattern of measured shortfalls is what support teams and regulators respond to.
